Ethernet Network Interface

The Flashlink ETH1000-C1xxx is a 1000Base-T to fiber converter module. The module converts a standard 1000Mbps Ethernet signal on copper to fiber suitable for long haul applications. The ETH1000 was designed to enable bridging of a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port between two sites over a bi-directional optical fiber – one path for transmit and the other path for receive. The module has one electrical Ethernet port and one fiber transceiver port (receiver fiber connector and transmit fiber connector). The speed on the electrical connector is dependent of the DIP switch setting. Speed will automatically be set to the highest possible bit rate upon link connection. User can independently enable or disable 10Mbit, 100Mbit or 1000Mbit. The fiber link can be used in one or two fiber installations, or occuppy two wavelengths in a WDM, CWDM or DWDM installation. The transmit and receive paths can be on two single fibers or multiple wavelengths over a single fiber. The ETH1000 can work reliably over the full 0 to 30dB optical link budget when using the APD optical receiver option. This product is intended for use with 9/125 single mode fiber, which typically has an attenuation of less than 0.4 dB/km, giving a possible link length of up to 75km if a 1310nm laser is used. Greater distances can be obtained by using 1550nm, CWDM, or DWDM lasers.
