Sandefjord, Norway and Oxnard, California, September 2, 2009 – Nevion (nevion.com), a leading video transport solution provider for broadcasters, telecommunications service providers and government entities worldwide, is announcing the FCS1000-PLUS, a high-density in-service monitoring system at the IBC Show (Stand B.870).
FCS1000-PLUS is a standalone system that monitors ASI, HD and SD signals transported by Nevion’s Ventura, Flashlink and VikinX product families. In addition to providing full compliance with industry standards, the system is also ideal for monitoring video signals in a multi-vendor environment. FCS1000-PLUS may be deployed at multiple locations in contribution and distribution infrastructures to ensure that Quality-of-Service is maintained throughout the entire video transport chain.
The FCS1000-PLUS allows the monitoring of up to 16 DVB-ASI, SD-SDI or HD-SDI signals, ensuring that video circuits are delivered with the optimum quality-of-service (QoS), 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The new hardware platform is also ready for monitoring of MPEG2 transport streams over IP (SMPTE 2022 standard).
The high-density system provides the full monitoring of integrity, presence and activity on each channel. All signals are monitored in compliance with relevant standards: ETR 290 for DVB-ASI, SMPTE 259 (EDH) for SD-SDI, and SMPTE-292 for HD-SDI. Reed Soloman analysis is also performed for DVB-ASI signals.
“The FCS1000-PLUS enables service providers to proactively monitor video transport signals and demonstrate SLA compliance to customers,” said Jan Helgesen, director of product management - control, monitoring, and network management solutions. “Further, the system eliminates the need to bring test equipment into the network and provides detailed information about each transport stream, tests signals without breaking any feeds, monitors multiple signals at once, and pinpoints signal failures down to the transport stream.
Other key features of the FCS1000-PLUS include remote video circuit monitoring through the built-in Web interface and a confidence monitoring output that can display up to 16 HD/SD signals at once. The option to integrate with Nevion’s DataMiner NMS or other management systems via SNMP is available for more complex installations.
